An Improved Battery Equalizer with Reduced Number of Components Applied to Electric Vehicles

The investigation of electric vehicle technologies has increased significantly in the last few years. These vehicles can substantially reduce environmental impact transportation sector. In cars, battery is a crucial element. batteries are made up several stacked cells to meet requirements propulsion system. Battery equalizer circuits take active measures ensure that particular variable kept inside an allowable range all cells. Inductor-based equalizers very popular since equalization current controlled. This paper proposes single-inductor architecture with reduced number components. proposed topology transfer energy from adjacent cell-to-cell or string-to-string. analyzes operation converter, its design, and design controller. Furthermore, comparison other inductor-based schemes was considering component count, stress on devices, time, driver complexity, parameters. theoretical efficiency obtained 84.9%, which competitive literature solutions. size circuit components also analyzed. Finally, simulation results open load changes through conditions were performed validate analysis.
